NYC in a nutshell. Millions celebrating in a sea of wonderful community. Some people being total assholes and criminals. And the people who make the city actually run such as The New York City Department of Sanitation doing what they do every day. I think it's the greatest city in the world and always will.
The aftermath of last night, all cleaned up as of 8am

Job interviews in a nutshell. When I’ve interviewed for my team, I’m always careful with those that have high verbal IQ, because over the years I’ve seen many being able to talk big game and then their performance was below mediocre, while others that may not be able to speak so smoothly, end up being excellent at their jobs.
HEARTBREAKING: one of the dumbest people you know has a high verbal IQ so people think they’re right

CORRUPTION IN A NUTSHELL Every problem in Uganda ultimately traces back to corruption because corruption is the single force that distorts how money is allocated, how decisions are made, how institutions function, and how power is exercised; it turns budgets into feeding troughs, contracts into political rewards, public offices into personal estates, laws into suggestions, and accountability into theatre, so roads collapse because contracts are bought, hospitals fail because drug budgets are stolen, schools decay because construction funds evaporate, unemployment rises because jobs are sold, prices soar because every bribe becomes a hidden tax, debt explodes because loans fund ghost projects, crime grows because opportunity is killed, institutions weaken because loyalty replaces competence, and poverty deepens because the resources meant to lift citizens are diverted into private pockets ,in other words: corruption is not one of our problems, it is the architecture that manufactures all the others. And for as long as it goes unchecked forget the USD 500 Billion Economy.

Ro argues that the shepherds have better use for their wool, than the sheep. In short, Ro believes people who've never built anything can employ builders' money and direct their efforts, better than the builders themselves. Hayek's fatal conceit, in a nutshell.

When we started Applied Compute this was our thesis in a nutshell. "Companies need to turn their workflows, domain knowledge, and accumulated judgment into AI systems that improve with each use. Private evals should capture whether a model is actually improving against outcomes that matter to the business (not just external benchmarks!). Private reinforcement learning environments should let models grow stronger on real traces from inside the organization. Its knowledge base makes institutional memory queryable and use of tokens more efficient. This loop becomes the new IP of the firm. I think of it as a hill climbing machine. And unlike most assets, it compounds. Every improved workflow generates better training signal, which accelerates the accumulation of tacit knowledge unique to the firm. The companies that build this early will have an advantage that is hard to replicate, regardless of any new individual model capability."
