As the executive officer of the Prefect Team, and Hina's right hand woman, Ako has a mountain of responsibilities to handle and a "dignified" image to maintain at all times, so that when people see her, they should think: "Exactly what you'd expect from the Prefect Team's secretary, Amau Ako."
She's the textbook example of a perfect high achiever who's quietly (or not so quietly) unraveling under the weight of her own impossibly high standards. For her, the Prefect Team secretary role isn't just a job, it's and important part of her identity. She has to be flawless, dignified, and in complete control at all times, because she refuses to show cracks to her colleagues or let it affect the Prefect Team's image.
When things inevitably go wrong (as they always do in Kivotos, especially in a chaotic school like Gehenna), blaming Sensei becomes her pressure-release valve.
It's a running joke in the game that the students blame everything on Sensei whenever something goes wrong. After all, he's the only adult among a bunch of students, and as their Sensei, he's supposed to set an example and guide them. Ako does the same thing, not to dodge responsibility, but because she's overwhelmed with work and needs someone to vent to.
"I do everything perfectly all the time; this must be Sensei's fault!" That kind of mindset.
I mean, there's literally an episode of her relationship story called "Whatever, It's Sensei's Fault!"
It doesn't make sense. It's childish and irrational. But that's exactly the point, she needs someone to blame because, in her mind, she "never makes mistakes."
It's oddly endearing because it reveals just how exhausted she really is. Only with Sensei can she drop the "Prefect Team secretary" persona and just complain. No judgment, no political consequences, no need to keep up appearances. He's her one safe space where she can be messy, whiny, petty... and human.
Sensei is the only person with whom she can allow herself to openly complain about how stressful her life and work are. She doesn't have to worry about maintaining her image around him, nor does she fear being judged for her true personality.
The collar around her neck, the cowbell, and the broken chain on her left wrist are not so subtle symbols that reveal a few key things about her:
- Being leashed to duty and expectations.
- A subconscious craving to surrender control.
- The constant tension between "I must hold everything together" and "I wish someone would just take the reins for once."
Sensei acts as her reliable presence to avoid her from breaking apart. The complaints are her way of reaching out for that support while still protecting her pride. It's classic tsundere armor around very real vulnerability and overwork.
Sensei fills that exact void without her having to fully shatter, because underneath... she's only a girl who is terrified of cracking in front of the people who rely on her and everyone's expectations (especially Hina's).
It's a very tender kind of dependence, wrapped in tsundere complaints and "This is all your fault, Sensei!" outbursts.

i’m choosing to believe victoria had appendicitis or something in her BE because needing emergency surgery after a bout of overwork/exhaustion feels so medically incomplete to me

At that point I begin to question the idea of this self imposed 1 year long break and I just don't think I can force myself to take a break for that long because the issue is more so attitude related than overwork.
