There are just too many unforced errors in this movie. Would it have done any better with a less parodic tone, less deconstruction of masculinity and no race swaps? Maybe not. But I don’t see those things helping the box office. Especially after the bait and switch with Barbie

there’s almost too much social/religious stigma surrounding SW that most individual thoughts & opinions are received in a parodic sense, so it’s typically easier to keep it simple publicly. plus .. it’s twitter

Due to male/female facial features some women can come across as very attractive men. It almost never happens the other way round.
When women do it, even if it fails to convince, I never find it parodic. Perhaps because male stereotypes are rarely degrading.

Ch1 is more parodic of video game structure (esp RPGs) than i remember - coupled with Undertale i think Deltarune can form an effective instance of the revolutionary parodic dyad Barthes outlines, transcending talking about video games to instead embody their limits & potential
