I finished the show recently. Tyler did tell Kirsten, at knife point, in ep. 6 that it was Haley's idea. "If I die, I'll lose control of the story. It happened already. When I was hurt, Haley told the kids a different story, that the mines erased the past. That was Pingtree. "
