In his remarks, The Managing Director, Postmaster
@JamesArinaitwe1, highlighted the evolution, relevance, and future direction of postal services in Uganda.
He began by reflecting on the origins of Uganda's postal service, noting that it was established long before independence with the mandate to serve as the backbone of communication. At the time, communication was entirely physical, relying on letters, parcels, and other forms of mail, with the post office playing a central role in connecting people and institutions.
Despite the shift toward digital communication, he emphasized that the importance of postal services has not diminished. Instead, it has expanded. Globally, postal systems continue to exist because communication remains essential, only the form in which it is delivered has changed.
Referring to a recent discussion on
@ubctvuganda, he addressed questions about the future of postal services, affirming that the post office will remain relevant not only over the next 10 years but also over the next century. However, its role will evolve to deliver different types of products and services.
