I'll take the vercel guy with the moustache and unnecessary features clearly made for lock-in over "sustaining engineering model" any day but the real deal remains VPS with coolify and supabase for postgres object storage only (no postgrest, postgraphile, RLS, auth, and definitely NO deno cloud functions)
Feb 6
Heroku is transitioning to a sustaining engineering model focused on stability, security, reliability, and support. Heroku remains an actively supported, production-ready platform, with an emphasis on maintaining quality and operational excellence rather than introducing new features. We know changes like this can raise questions, and we want to be clear about what this means for customers. There is no change for customers using Heroku today. Customers who pay via credit card in the Heroku dashboard—both existing and new—can continue to use Heroku with no changes to pricing, billing, service, or day-to-day usage. Core platform functionality, including applications, pipelines, teams, and add-ons, is unaffected, and customers can continue to rely on Heroku for their production, business-critical workloads. Enterprise Account contracts will no longer be offered to new customers. Existing Enterprise subscriptions and support contracts will continue to be fully honored and may renew as usual. Why this change We’re focusing our product and engineering investments on areas where we can deliver the greatest long-term customer value, including helping organizations build and deploy enterprise-grade AI in a secure and trusted way.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗜𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 It is time to explore a major step forward for anyone building with TRON or handling high-volume USDT flows. The Graph Substreams now provides a fast, reliable and production-ready way to stream real-time activity from the TRON network directly into your backend systems. This is extremely valuable for teams working on payments, treasury management, analytics, compliance, monitoring tools or on-chain automation. Why This Matters Substreams gives developers a high-throughput pipeline for blockchain data. It delivers blocks and events in real time, applies transformations before the data even reaches your application, and keeps everything consistent and reorganized safely. On TRON, this means you can follow USDT TRC-20 transfers the moment they occur, support deposit tracking, build instantly updating dashboards, and automate operations with confidence. How the System Works ➢ The setup connects several components into one smooth data flow: ➢ Substreams endpoints serve as the data source for TRON mainnet. ➢ A prebuilt Substreams package for TRON handles core parsing and transforms. ➢ Node.js consumers receive the streams and write the output into PostgreSQL. ➢ PostGraphile exposes a clean GraphQL API on top of the stored data. ➢ Optional modules allow you to trigger contract calls, publish to Kafka or send alerts. The result is a reliable pipeline that you can drop directly into production environments. Targeted Capture for USDT Filtering is one of the most useful features. Instead of processing the entire chain, you can subscribe only to the USDT transfers you care about. Examples include: • Capturing outgoing transfers from a specific address • Capturing incoming transfers to a specific address • Monitoring liquidity movements • Tracking treasury inflows in real time Filtered events are streamed and stored in dedicated PostgreSQL tables, ready for analysis or automated actions. Practical Applications Teams can use this setup to: • Sweep deposits into secure wallets the moment they arrive • Publish each event into Kafka for fraud detection or reconciliation • Feed dashboards and BI tools with live data • Trigger notifications when thresholds or anomalies appear • Build compliance and monitoring systems backed by real-time on-chain signals The flexibility of Substreams makes it suitable for everything from small analytics tools to large-scale operational systems. Key Operational Notes To maintain stability in production, consider the following: • Use UPSERT logic to handle potential reorgs • Use checkpoints when backfilling historical data • Increase Node memory for higher throughput • Treat API keys and database credentials as sensitive assets • Plan for TRON Energy and Bandwidth when performing on-chain actions These practices help ensure reliability even under heavy load. Final Thoughts Real-time on-chain visibility is becoming a core requirement for modern Web3 applications. TRON’s integration with Substreams offers developers a high-performance path to build payments infrastructure, operational dashboards and smart automation workflows that respond instantly to network activity. If you are building on TRON or working with high-volume USDT flows, this is a powerful resource worth adopting. x.com/trondao/status/1997012… #TRONEcoStar @justinsuntron @trondao

The ability to automatically add items to collections is unfortunately missing in GraphQL :/ even in @RelayFramework it's quite annoying to do, though there are some really nice directives that make it easy-ish But you still have to know which connections to add it to @AlecAivazis's Houdini also has some nice mechanisms for adding items to collections IIRC Anyway, this is an obvious missing feature in GraphQL. Something like Postgraphile a sufficiently smart client should be able to do it, since you're starting from a SQL schema I'm not sure how this would interact with pagination, tbh, though. (And especially with cursor-based pagination.)

Great question but no! In Apollo the normalization only works for single items. Going back to my example, if you have the equivalent of the query from my original post, say: ```gql query GetChillUsers { users( where: { state: { _eq: "chill" } } order_by: { created: desc } ) { id name email state created } } ``` And then a mutation like so: ```gql mutation UpdateUser($id: ID!, $name: String!) { updateUser(id: $id, name: $name) { id name __typename } } ``` ... Apollo will optimistically update the open queries automatically when you run this mutation. That's great! But the catch is that Apollo can only do this for simple updates like this that modify a single item. Any other kind of change will *not* optimistically update existing queries. For example, in my original example I inserted a new user that matched an open query. GraphQL will not show this insert optimistically. It can't because it has no way to re-run the query locally to know whether the new item matches. The query is only defined server-side. If you want an optimistic result for such an insert with GraphQL you must manually update each matching query yourself on the client 😬. A laborious and error-prone process. But in a sync engine like Zero, there's nothing to do. There's a local datastore with live queries running client-side. Every mutation updates this local store and re-fires affected queries **automatically**. Here's a quick video demo. You can also play with this yourself right now on our production bug tracker: bugs.rocicorp.dev/ (but please clean up after yourself as this is our real bug tracker!).
