I worked with lots of observability tools throughout my career, if you have a business YOU SHOULD know what is more important for you to find out about your website or app, and base on that choose your observability tools: Datadog: I’m currently working with this tool, great for infra metrics, distributed tracing, logs, etc. it is like a paid version of Grafana Promethous. It will let you know if your website is down, slow, and if your error surpasses a threshold, lots of logs so you can trace your app errors but you have to attach traceId to them to connect the clues! Not recommended for small businesses imo. Grafana Promethous Alloy Loki : Free version of datadog, but you have to do lots of things manually! It has infra metrics, logs, etc. Sentry : love this one! code-level errors, stack traces, release health, session replay. You will find your bugs in production! Clarity: Free! It will show a full recording of a session before your user encounter a client side error. But honestly that’s it with some metrics, don’t expect too much from it. AWS RUM: so expensive imo, I’d go with datadog RUM GA4: this one is totally different, mostly used for tracking users’ behaviour across your app, conversions, etc. Choose wisely depending on what you want to observe!
