Junta troops conducting military operations in the lower villages of Launglon Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, burned down six civilian homes in Ka Dut Gyi Village.
On May 28, junta troops entered Ka Dut Gyi Village through a forest route while carrying out village-to-village operations in southern Launglon Township. After entering the village, the troops set fire to civilian homes.
The troops first stationed themselves at a monastery on Yankin Taung before moving into Chay Taw Yar Monastery inside Ka Dut Gyi Village. On the same day, resistance joint forces carried out a drone attack against junta troops stationed at the monasteries. The junta troops responded with artillery fire.
Following the exchange of drone and artillery attacks, junta troops burned down six houses located near Chay Taw Yar Monastery, where they were stationed.
“Four houses were completely destroyed. The remaining two can still be repaired. We could only watch,” said a local resident.
The fire completely destroyed four homes, including a two-story building, wooden houses, and thatched-roof homes. Two other houses were partially damaged.
Since May 20, the Junta has reportedly been conducting village-to-village operations across Launglon Township. Local residents said the troops often move secretly before suddenly entering villages, arresting civilians, and confiscating money and valuables before releasing them.
Thousands of villagers from Sit Pyae, Nyin Maw, Gaw Inn, Auk Ye Phyu, Ka Dut Gyi, Kyat Yet Twin, Tha Pyay Shaung, and Thakyet Taw village tracts have been forced to flee their homes.
Local sources also reported that young people have been arrested and forced to accompany junta troops as porters, carrying supplies and equipment. Dozens of youths remain detained.
