Snap officially introduced SPECS, its new augmented reality glasses, at Augmented World Expo 2026 and opened pre-orders the same day. They are fully standalone, use Snapโs own display and waveguide tech, and are priced at $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit.
What they are
SPECS are designed as lightweight AR glasses for everyday use rather than a bulky headset. Snap says they are meant to bring AI assistance, work tools, entertainment, and shared experiences into the world around you while keeping you present.
Hardware design
Snap says SPECS come in two sizes, weigh 132 grams for the 47 mm version and 136 grams for the 52 mm version, and support prescription inserts. They are made from Swiss TR90 polymer and are fully standalone, with no tether or external puck.
The display system uses Snapโs liquid crystal on silicon technology, with a 51-degree field of view and 16 million colors. Snap says the visual experience is like a 24-inch desktop monitor for work or a 115-inch cinema screen at about 10 feet for video.
Core capabilities
Snap says SPECS are powered by two Snapdragon processors, one for computer vision and one for running Lenses. That setup supports fast hand tracking, low latency, and real-world-anchored digital overlays.
Battery life is listed at up to four hours of mixed use, with a charging case that adds four more charges for up to 20 total hours of mixed use.
