The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday announced temporary restrictions on Telegram access across India to safeguard the integrity of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for June 21.
In an official statement, NTA welcomed directions issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
Access to the Telegram platform will remain restricted for a limited period ending June 22, 2026, covering the exam day and its immediate aftermath.
The message-editing feature has also been disabled until June 30 to prevent fabrication of fake “paper leak” evidence.
The measures target organized cheating rackets that exploited Telegram channels to defraud NEET aspirants by selling or promising leaked papers for the re-test. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre coordinated monitoring and takedowns of fraudulent groups and bots.
NTA expressed gratitude to MeitY, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and law enforcement agencies for the coordinated response.
It assured candidates that the re-examination will proceed securely and urged them to focus on preparation using only official sources while reporting any fraudulent solicitations.
The re-test follows the cancellation of the original May 3 exam amid paper leak allegations.
