Saturday's horse racing thread 🧵 Chester 1.50 Pure Grit 10/11 NAP Chester 2.20 Undercover Affair 9/4 Carlisle 3.10 Estrange 1/1 NEXT BEST Carlisle 3.45 Langstone 9/2 Chester 4.05 Champonie 2/1 Chester 4.38 Crockham Heath 4/1 Lingfield 8.12 Get Outta Here 7/4 I was at Newbury when PURE GRIT finished second and I thought it was a really big run in defeat. I was in a box and someone had good word for God Given Talent even though it went off 28/1. So I think he just bumped into one revved up for the day and the form looks decent enough as the third Down To You Kid shaped well. Either way he can improve bundles from that and under a forward ride I think he'll have a great chance to get off the mark. Experience can count for plenty here and UNDERCOVER AFFAIR very much looks the one to beat. He ran well behind Donegal Rose at this track on penultimate start and then bumped into one in the shape of Agamemnon at Wolverhampton. He is open to improvement and I know the yard are bullish about a big run with Billy Loughnane booked for the ride. Furturra can keep improving and is the obvious danger so I might play the reverse forecast too nearer the off time. This is all about ESTRANGE and I think she'll take a lot of beating. She won this last year albeit at Haydock so goes particularly well fresh and she was last seen bumping into Kalpana at the top level on Champions Day. She is lightly raced for her age so you couldn't rule out further progression and I think she'll have too much for these. She isn't always the easiest of rides but Danny Tudhope knows her well now having won on her three times and she deserves to be a short priced favourite. I was really impressed with LANGSTONE at Kempton. I thought he won in the manner of a smart young horse and now eyeing up a hat-trick back on turf ahead of his handicap debut he should continue his progression. He was backed into 5/2 last night and has eased this morning but it wouldn't surprise me to see the money come again as he is armed with a great deal of potential and I'm expecting a really big run. Kingman colt Princling also looks a lovely prospect going forward so I expect them to fight this one out. I was with CHAMPONIE last time out and I know the yard fancied a big run. The draw went against her and she could never land a blow. She has a good low draw this time and is definitely better than the bare form from last time. She can improve again on just her fourth start here and I expect her to get back to winning ways now. Cherry Baker is tough and likeable and can run well and also stablemate Zighy is no back number either and could get competitive - might be worth an each way saver as the yard are flying. Definitely sticking with CROCKHAM HEATH here. He impressed getting off the mark at Southwell and then followed up impressively at Wolverhampton. He wasn't at his best finishing last at Newmarket on handicap debut but if you put a line through that he could be a danger to all in this. His trainer likes him and I can see this track suiting him as he has a nice change of gear when required. Been backed in now but I've still played at 4/1. I always like backing one on a Saturday night and having it to look forward to and that horse is GET OUTTA HERE tonight. He left previous form behind to finish third to Runman at Epsom last month and now handicapping back in trip with Jamie Spencer booked may well land a bit of a gamble here. He has a perfect blend of speed and stamina and should be galloping on strongly through the line. Hopefully he judges it right and he gets there in time.

CLAREHAVEN CONCLUSIONS A brave run from RUNMAN who gave way inside the last half furlong under his double penalty Promise from OUTFLANK who gets a mark now, likely to be in the mid 80's TICKER TAPE seems to be regressing but also gets a mark now (low 70's?) #TeamClarehaven

I thought Oisin Murphy just gave up there on Runman. 1.25 in play ends up 4th.

A fair few jockeys and trainers out today that have a pretty good record at specific courses: Gosden 35% at Newcastle (34-98) and interesting he’s sending one there today in the 3pm with Havlin on board (39% for him here) which is a bit scary as he’s had some shockers recently. Happy to ignore that as there are others in that race mentioned below that would scare me. He’s also sending two to Nottingham and Oisin booked on Runman (2.20) who looks best chance. Has a stone more to carry though than the favourite Adamlyi, which is Haggas’ only horse out today. Not sure there’s a need to get involved there, especially with Elmalka’s brother Moreedd who could improve massively since debut Bethell 31% at Nottingham (12-39) and he’s sending on there today (3.20) and Stepanov come be such a plotjob down to a C6 on handicap debut. I think it might be you know and may get involved in a small each way multi at 4/1. Yard also sending one to Newcastle (4.35) that maybe interests me even more. Fitness on side with recent run and off the same mark and 5/1 is worth a go Balding 28% at Newcastle (53-190) and he’s sending two there today over 3000miles, where Littlecote (3.00) looks his best chance but I’m not sure odds on for a horse that has been beaten 4 times is worth it. Danseuse could be a better shout. Jack Mitchell is 29% at Newcastle for the Crisfords and they’re sending her nearly 250m today for debut and is Jacks only ride. Could be keen to have a go. Balding does have a debutant in the next (3.30) and Lehbab Prince was the most expensive of these but I’m not sure I want to get involved I won’t lie Charlton 25% at Lingfield (7-28) and he’s sending on there today (4.10) where Thanos is knocking on the door but has been beaten in to second three times in handicaps and I feel he may do again today. Based is Fallon’s only ride of the day and looked good towards the end on handicap debut and reappearance 3 weeks ago… and could come on a lot from that. Switch to turf today and could make a mockery of this mark at 11/4 Cunha 24% at Nottingham (8-34) but the one he’s sending to Lingfield (2.10) that is more interesting. Hengest won on handicap debut and step up in trip looks to suit and odds on for a reason Ed Walker 23% at Nottingham (11-48) and he’s sending 2 there today (3.50 and 4.20) where Shoemark is booked for both. I think both have a great chance you know. Capichera looks the winner to me with those form lines, coming 2nd to So Regal on reappearance. Could come on loads from that and take this C4 comfortably. Ziata in the next looks the play to me too at 5/1 on handicap debut with 4 places on offer. PLJ is 38% at Nottingham when riding for Eustace and they are teaming up for two today where Bay Royale (2.50) looks their best chance. C&D winner and looks good for a muggy multi IMO

The son of Frankel @JuddmonteFarms is out of the winning daughter of Dansili - Bella Nouf.
