June 12, 1983- Bobby Allison wins his third straight race at Pocono in the Van Scoy Diamond Mine 500. Allison finished 9.56 seconds ahead of Darrell Waltrip. Richard Petty was third, with Tim Richmond and Benny Parsons a lap behind in fourth and fifth.

June 12, 1983- Terry Labonte limps back to the pits after getting loose and hitting the Turn 3 wall on Lap 87 of the Van Scoy Diamond Mine 500 at Pocono. The incident also involved Geoff Bodine and Joe Ruttman. Despite the damage, his team made repairs and he finished ninth.
