I forgot to mention strings. What *REALLY* matters on any solidbody electric is not the name on the headstock, not what sort of wood it's made of. What matters is how the neck feels. How the neck feels is the #1 concern you should be concerned with. #2 is tied at how the pickups sound and what kind of strings you're running. That's also entirely subjective. x.com/CHA0Slncarnate/status/…

The name on a headstock at the end of the day means nada. What matters is the neck and the pickups. Mostly the neck. The neck on my cheap Epiphone is darn close to that of my Gibson, can play just as good, at least for me. Both are amazing guitars in their own way.

1960 USA Rickenbacker 450 Fireglo two-pickup Cresting Wave solidbody with two early toaster pickups, rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, aluminum pickguard, four-knob control layout, mono output, and the original bridge plate serial number stamped 4C512A The serial format itself is a strong indicator of a Model 450, where 4C denotes the 450 series Combo guitar and the trailing A suffix is consistent with 450 production numbering from this era The bridge plate stamping location and vertical orientation also match early 1960 production examples. The body routing visible under the pickguard appears consistent with original factory work from the period rather than later modification, as Rickenbacker’s routing in this era was often comparatively rough and done with Forstner bits The finish appears to be an early Fireglo, and the fade pattern is characteristic of 1959–1960 examples. Based on the serial number sequence 4C512A, the bridge stamp placement, Cresting Wave body shape, toaster pickups, and comparison to documented neighboring serial numbers, this guitar is best identified as an early 1960 Rickenbacker 450 in Fireglo, built at the Rickenbacker factory in Los Angeles, California, USA A lot of people focus on the rough-looking routes and assume modification, but on very early Rickenbackers that’s often exactly what original factory work looks like The original aluminum pickguard is also a desirable feature, as many early 450s lost them over the years due to warping, damage, or replacement during modifications reddit.com/r/rickenbacker/co…

c. 1964–1965 West Germany Hofner Super Solid III Model 173, Galaxie Red, double-cut solidbody with bound rosewood fingerboard and pearl stripe position markers, three Hofner 511 Super/Nova Sonic humbuckers, Höfner vibrato tailpiece with integrated string mute, adjustable bridge, four-knob control layout with rotary pickup selector, black headstock with gold Höfner logo and closed-back tuners with translucent crown buttons, built by Hofner in Bubenreuth, Bavaria, West Germany. The three chrome-covered Höfner humbuckers provide a surprisingly powerful voice for a mid-1960s European guitar, with the neck pickup delivering warm, rounded jazz tones, the middle pickup adding hollow and woody character, and the bridge pickup producing bright attack and strong upper-midrange bite; the rotary selector allows each pickup individually or combinations, creating a wide range of sounds from smooth and mellow to aggressive garage-rock tones. The bound neck with pearl stripe markers, closed-back tuners, three humbuckers, rotary selector and Galaxie Red finish place this example in the Super Solid III specification used during the mid-1960s. The Hofner Super Solid III (173) was Hofner’s top-of-the-line solidbody model during the British Invasion era and was notably used by early British beat groups. Unlike many German guitars of the period, it featured full humbuckers, sophisticated electronics and a fast, slim neck, making it one of the most advanced European solidbody designs of the 1960s. reverb.com/item/96881127-vin…
