If Nintendo officially enters the Indian market, my Friends in India are going to be super hyped! Back when I was the Director of Operations at loanDepot, one of my responsibilities was training and managing a team of roughly 800 employees at SourcePoint Mortgage in Bangalore, India. During one of our Teams meetings, they spotted the NBA JAM arcade in my office and couldn’t believe I actually had an arcade machine at work 😂 That led them into asking if I had ever played Nintendo games or if I just play arcade games. Of course, I started talking about my lifelong history with Nintendo and joked that the only way I’d ever leave loanDepot was if the Phoenix Suns or Nintendo offered me a job. Neither has happened 'yet' 😂 but at least I get to cover Nintendo games now. What really stuck with me was them saying they wished they could easily play Nintendo games in India because access was next to impossible. They told me they had heard Nintendo was like the “Crown Jewel” of video games and asked me if, in my estimation, that was true. I told them I enjoy all the consoles, but if I could only keep one, I wouldn’t have to think twice about choosing Nintendo. After that, before pretty much every meeting, they’d ask what games I was currently playing on Nintendo and what they were like. India has a HUGE passion for gaming and I honestly think Nintendo will do incredibly well there. Keep in mind, India’s population is estimated around 1.47 billion people and the median age is only 29. The potential of the gaming market there is enormous.
