"Equinox, alternative title: “Amelia pouncing on spring after a long New England winter”. If I grab an acorn and shake it violently in my talons, spring will fall out faster, right? (Right?) I am the Spring, unfurling and uncurling in the first faint, shy rays of the new sun. My wings are a warm breeze, my eyes burn with the glory of flame, and all life rejoices as I fly over barren field and icy tundra. Do not despair in the long, cold winter- listen for my cry on the chill wind, the faint rustle of my silken feathers, and know that I am whispering to every seed, stooping to gather even the smallest acorn. I wrap them all in my loving embrace and sing songs of courage, songs of growth. Life will return yet!" via Amelia Royce Leonards - Artist is in Ashfield, MA #owl #spring #springequinox #life #springishere

初稿の2首目の英訳は、白雪/ white snow が主語ですので、"it makes bloom flowers" ろなるべきですが、花 / flowers の主体性、自発性を重んじ 能動的に"flowers come to bloom." : My two tanka were published in PRODIGY MAGAZINE March 2026, THE FUTURE. Although the tanka poems were published in the English edition only, as the original is in Japanese, I am sharing both the Japanese and English versions here. Please note that, due to editorial constraints, there is no blank line between the first and second poems, but there are indeed two tanka. This time, I have translated the Japanese and English tanka poems into English so that they can be combined semantically to form a single, cohesive whole. In the first draft, the second poem's subject is "white snow," so it should have been "it makes flowers bloom," but I emphasized the subjectivity and spontaneity of the flowers and translated it actively as "flowers come to bloom." Therefore, I hope you will enjoy the complete form of the tanka poem in both Japanese and English, “Bilingual Tanka as a single work.” The photo tanka shown here was created specifically for this post and has not been published in the magazine. Thank you for your understanding. : ―Before Spring- : 幾代経ば呪縛の枷の解かれむや春とほく忍の雪中の華 : How many generations until the chain of spell break? Spring still far away, a flower endures buried in snow : 谷間(たにあい)に降り積みしむる白雪は深きをめぐり花を咲かしむ : White snow falling, freezing, piling in the valley― in its deep turning, flowers come to bloom : © Rika Inami From PRODIGY MAGAZINE March 2026, THE FUTURE : #日英語短歌 #ロゴスの短歌 #JapaneseEnglishTanka #EnglishJapaneseHaiku #VernalEquinox #SpringEquinox #文語体短歌
