On Thursday 8/5/2026 the Kenya Space Agency (KSA) convened the Africa Business Innovation Lab (ABIL) Stakeholder Roundtable in Nairobi jointly organised with ABIL implementing partners, Stamtech @LocateIT_KE , @Adanianlabs @planetek @coralliaorg . It was a high-level forum convened to formally introduce ABIL to Kenya's broader innovation and development ecosystem and assess how space and Earth Observation technologies can address real-world development challenges. The African Business Innovation Lab (ABIL) is an initiative under the Africa–EU Space Partnership Programme (AESPP) funded by the European Union (represented by European Commission’s DG-INTPA) within the Global Gateway initiative and delegated to the European Space Agency (ESA) for the implementation, in close collaboration with the Kenya Space Agency (KSA). Its mandate is to accelerate space and Earth Observation innovation across key thematic areas including agriculture, climate resilience, disaster management, urban planning, and natural resource management. The roundtable brought together a cross-section of institutions and business organisations spanning diplomacy, research, development, and innovation. Among those in attendance were representatives from the Italian Space Agency, RCMRD, Expertise France, FAO Kenya, WFP, British High Commission, Nakuja Space, SayariLabs, Women in Space Kenya, Strathmore University, Taita Taveta University, University of Nairobi, and many other leading institutions from Kenya's innovation, research, and development sectors. Discussions explored the critical business and technical challenges facing key sectors, and how Space technologies and Earth Observation data can deliver innovative yet practical and market-ready solutions. KSA remains committed to fostering partnerships that position Kenya as a hub for space-driven innovation , building a lasting ecosystem anchored locally and connected to pan-African and global networks.
