Depression isn't just sadness.
It’s an accumulation of unresolved emotions that eventually drains your soul.
In 2019, a single moment of betrayal sent me into a downward spiral.
I caught my best friend and my girlfriend together.
It was the end of the semester.
My friends and I decided stayback at school to celebrate finishing exams.
A day before I was supposed to travel home, I went to surprise my closest friend at his place.
The door opened to a nightmare.
I caught him and my girl together.
I didn't scream. I didn't fight. I just went numb.
I turned around, slammed the door, and walked back to my room in a daze.
I felt like my world had collapsed.
I traveled home the next day carrying a weight I couldn't describe.
My mom saw right through me. She knew her son was missing even though I was standing right there.
When I finally broke down and told her, she didn't just comfort me she gave me the permission to feel alive again.
But I knew I needed an outlet for the pain.
I decided to stop mourning what I lost and start building what I loved.
I enrolled in fashion design.
Every stitch was a distraction. Every fabric I cut was a piece of my old self I was letting go.
Fashion didn't just give me a skill; it saved my life.
Fast forward 7 years. I’m no longer that broken 200-level student. I’m here on X, creating content about the craft I love.
If you’re spiraling right now, please hear me:
- Depression is real, but it doesn't have to be your end.
- Speak to someone. Don't carry it alone.
- Find a "purpose" to pour your energy into.
Don't let the darkness win. You still have so much to create. 🕊️
