I always assumed they were supposed to be ghosts but for darkness subclasses, and bungie scrapped it because that might get messy.

Well puca (pronounced the exact same way) is Irish for ghost, so I am guessing it had something to do withe the darkness subclasses, especially since they were only seen on europa and neomuna

currently the neutral on warlock dark subclasses gets severely mogged by the light ones lol, they clearly got the biggest boot on the neck by prismatic just existing

The moral ambiguity was definitely more of a Lightfall thing. By all appearances it looks like the original plan was for all darkness subclasses to be intimately associated with the black fleet and/or more winnower adjacent in nature.

Brother what? Mechanical & subclasses I can see. But the live service, slop stories & seasons, free items & loot for all, not having end game content be S tier, etc etc… it’s a looter shooter raid game, not free & equal drops to bring equality to all game

The subclasses were such a good addition, each feels pretty unique and nice to play

And if you're just now returning, I'd recommend playing through the campaigns you've missed, getting the new subclasses and messing around with them and go from there! Just about everything in the game has been modernized so loot will almost always be exciting & relevant :)
