On view at “teamLab Biovortex Kyoto” ・ “Living Crystallized Light” Like an organic entity created from crystallized light, the work shines iridescently from its center as it moves around, merging and dividing continuously. People can walk into the artwork, and even if they do so, the artwork will continue to be maintained, its existence unharmed. If a person touches the artwork, they realize that what they are looking at is ordinary water. The artwork’s existence is not independent, but is actually a unique phenomenon created by its environment. The places where the work appears will change as the viewer moves. The work’s appearance is unique to the viewer, so someone viewing the artwork from another angle will see a different colored work appearing in a different place. In other words, the existence of the artwork being seen is created by its environment, and exists only in the viewer. ・ 《生命は結晶化したうごめく光》 まるで光が結晶化してできた有機体のような存在が、中心から虹色に輝きながら、統合と分裂を繰り返し、うごめいている。 人々は作品の中に入ることができる。人々が作品の中に身体ごと入ったとしても、作品は壊れず、作品の存在は維持され続ける。作品に触れると、見えている部分は、何の変哲もない水の一部だと気が付く。つまり、作品は作品自体で存在せず、環境がつくる特異な現象が作品の存在である。 鑑賞者が動くと、作品は出現する場所が変わっていく。鑑賞者が見ているその作品は、その鑑賞者にしか見えていなく、隣の人からは、違う場所に、違う色の作品が出現している。つまり、見えているその作品の存在は、環境が生み出し、鑑賞者の中にだけ存在する。 Environmental Phenomena 作品は、作品だけで存在できず、環境が現象を生み、その現象が存在を創る。 石ころや、これまで人間がつくってきたものは物体であり、物体はそれ自体で安定的な構造をもつ。石ころは、外界から遮断され密封された箱に入れても存在し続ける。 一方、海に生まれる渦は、閉じた箱に移すと一瞬で消えてしまう。つまり、渦は、それ自体で安定した自らの構造を保っていない。渦は、環境が生む流れの中にある存在であり、渦の外部から内部へ、そして内部から外部へと流れ続ける水によってつくられ、流れとともに変化する。そして、その存在の輪郭は曖昧で、渦と渦の外側の物質的な違いはない。 物体ではなく、特別な環境を創り、環境が生んだ現象によって作品を創る。それらを”環境現象”と呼ぼう。作品は、環境とは切り離せず、環境変化とともに変化する。そして、これまで人間がつくってきたものの常識を超越し、人が作品の中に身体ごと入り込んでも作品の存在は維持され、作品は壊れても修復される。逆に、環境が維持されない時、作品はなくなってしまう。作品の存在の輪郭は曖昧で、環境と連続的である。人々の意識は、存在そのものから環境に広がっていくだろう。 ・ 『チームラボ バイオヴォルテックス 京都 - 大成建設』 京都
