There was a 5 hour long meeting of the H’ble CM Sri Revanth Reddy with all IPS officers of IG, Addl DG and DG rank, working in various departments in the state. After initial remarks of the Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao where he stressed upon the importance of the meeting, I spoke about the brand of TG police and the need to improve it further , how safety enhances growth, how the HCM has repeatedly been asking us to change our approach from anti Maoist based policing to facing the new challenges and using AI and technology so that Vision 2047 is achieved. I spelled out the focus areas as 1)Narcotics 2)Cyber crimes 3)Traffic Management and Road Safety for which a new bureau is being created TMARS 4)creation of a Vigilance and Enforcement Directorate VED to check revenue losses in mining, civil supplies , GST, excise etc , creation of a new Food 5)Adulteration Wing to fight the menace which is causing increased cancers 6)Women Safety 7)Disaster Management 8)Communal Issues 9) ofcourse General law and order and crime prevention and detection 10) downsizing and redesigning of Greyhounds/Octopus/SIB/ISW 11) creation of a Tech Wing in DGP office to harness latest technologies. Spoke about the need to improve the general discipline and integrity in the department,gaps in protocol and courtesies ,the weakening of the DGP office due to creation of too many HOD s and the need to check this through proper protocols, the revival of basic policing like our field visits, crime meetings , the need to empower SP/ CPs and posting of DIG s to mentor them, the need to control corrupt activities. I also made a request to clear some pending bills, fill some vacancies, solve the seniority disputes in SI s to DSP s. I assured the Hon’ble CM that we will work hard as a team to bring good name to the government. The Hon’ble CM spoke in length about the need to maintain hierarchy from HG to DGP, and enhance coordination and cooperation, bring back basic policing and combine it with using technology, conduct manpower and vehicle and weapons audits , introduce Drone policing, Social media monitoring, coordinate with other departments in the districts, revive the CCTV s and utilise iCCC to it’s full extent ,strengthen the police station and basic policing. All the HODs spoke for 5 minutes each on their department activity and future plans. It was a very intense and important meeting for the IPS officers to clear doubts about any lack of coordination, responsibility and accountability of each and everyone.
