NGMC Bariatrics held our inaugural Walk from Obesity! This is the 20th anniversary of the national event. We walk to raise awareness for obesity. This is a chronic and complex disease that requires long-term treatment. @WalkfromObesity @TREOFoundation @ASMBS @myNGHS

AOM’s in real life settings (=outside the ambitious lifestyle coaching programmes of the controlled studies) show results that do not impress much unfortunately. The total patient approach needs to step up if meds are to succeed.

I think AOMs are going to be the best thing for bariatric surgery in recent history. Patients and insurers will realize the costs and downsides of lifelong therapy and lead to expanded surgery coverage and referrals.
