#sapsEC Ngcobo SAPS hosted a community engagement at Masonwabe Hall to strengthen crime prevention in Sector 1.
Stakeholders from various departments, including Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality, Education, Correctional Services, Home Affairs, Health, and others, attended the session.
Captain Tyho highlighted the purpose of raising awareness on crime trends, while Captain Mayeza noted concerns such as murder, rape, assault GBH, and stock theft contributing to rising crime in the area.
Community Policing Forum representative Mr Mcaba encouraged community involvement and the establishment of CPFs. Councillor Spendu linked serious crimes to drug abuse and urged residents to report dealers.
Other stakeholders shared support programmes, safety guidelines, and the realities of prison life to discourage criminal behaviour.
Station Commander Colonel Msongelwa commended the “Community in Blue” and urged residents to work with police and report corruption.
The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to building a safer community.
