Our work w/ @ThePRIDEStudy shows how anti-LGBTQ policies are associated with neg mental health outcomes.
NEW STUDY: In our recent paper, we found that #LGBTQ people w/#disabilities were between 2-6x more likely to have greater anxiety & depression symptoms. We discussed the effects of how disability/🏳️🌈 stigma may contribute to poorer health. @ThePRIDEStudyconnect.springerpub.com/cont…
4/ As a project of @IbisRH, we are proud of our study conducted in partnership with @thepridestudy exploring interest in over-the-counter (OTC) progestin-only birth control pills (POPs) amongst transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals: medium.com/@IbisRH/what-over…
Many trans, nb, & gender-expansive people face barriers in accessing birth control. The arrival of OTC birth control pills can provide a new pathway to access. Read more about our research on this topic, conducted w/ @thepridestudy, on our blog: medium.com/@IbisRH/what-over…

🚨 New Study Alert! 🚨 We are excited to announce the latest #ThePRIDEStudyResearch led by @DrNurseNick, PhD, MPH, RN: Experiences of domestic violence are related to more future alcohol use among LGBTQIA people in The PRIDE Study 🌈🔬
pridestudy.org/research/#met…
ALT We looked at how intimate partner violence (physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse) affects how much alcohol LGBTQIA people use in the future. We looked at the relationship between experiences of intimate partner violence from The PRIDE Study participants in the 2021 Annual Questionnaire (AQ) and their alcohol consumption in the 2022 AQ.
Our study found that about 25% of The PRIDE Study participants in the 2021 AQ reported experiencing intimate partner violence in the past year. This intimate partner violence was linked to more alcohol use the following year in the 2022 AQ.
Intimate partner violence is a common experience in our communities. Addressing and preventing intimate partner violence could help improve the health of our communities and reduce alcohol use in LGBTQIA communities.
We are looking at whether this same association exists for other substances. Our results will help us to build better resources for LGBTQIA people to reduce intimate partner violence.
The PRIDE Study 2024 Annual Questionnaire is here! 🌈 Share your unique experiences through the first long-term national health study of LGBTQIA people today. Let your voice be heard! #PrideInHealth@ThePRIDEStudy
