「時宜にかなった」という意味でのtimlyは一応日本語と英語とで意味が重なるみたいですね、、、

最近の海外ニュースでよく見る表現。
日本語でいう「ダブルパンチ」
英語ではどう表現する？
→ double whammy（2つの打撃が重なる）
ホルムズ海峡をめぐる海外ニュースで
よく出てくるのがこの表現。
・ガソリン価格の上昇
・肥料やアルミなどの物価上昇
→ 二重の打撃 = double whammy
似た表現が one-two punch。
こちらは「順番にくる連続的な打撃」
同時に2つ → double whammy
順番にくる → one-two punch
この2つ、セットで覚えておくとニュアンスの違いがクリアになる。
