I have previously advocated against the use of ViewComponents in Rails apps. I retract my earlier advocacy against. Do what you want.

if the modules can be autolinked then yes it would work. the only thing I'd need to do is to add NSView support instead of UIView for viewcomponents

I was pretty happy with my Tailwind and ViewComponent setup until I started digging through Fizzy and my ViewComponents looked more like a replacement for CSS files. Now I'm considering the start of a return to vanilla CSS. It'd actually solve a few problems for me. 🤔

I think ViewComponents are great for this (this talk is great to see some of the benefits: youtu.be/xabosHqjOlM?si=2SBG…). Use storybook.js.org/ to document them. Also have in mind that this can be a heavy investment.

I remember reading this post when it first came out (was working on this same project lol) yeah this is a great idea actually - I'm using a combination of partial views and some ViewComponents but I think maybe defining some standard tags would be a good idea

Polaris Web Components are finally here! 🎉 It's hard to express my feelings, as I've been hoping for this for a long time. I prefer building Shopify apps with Rails. And as many other devs, I've been struggling with Polaris being React only framework. Struggled so much, that we end up building Polaris ViewComponents - community library that implements Polaris components specifically for Rails. But now we have framework-agnostic Polaris. We could use it with Rails, Django, Laravel, etc. This change will save thousands of development hours across ecosystem and will make app interfaces more polished for merchants. And the fact that we could use the same Polaris components across surfaces of the platform is absolutely sick! Huge step forward! Thanks @jzazove and everyone behind this project for making it happen! 👏💚
