I didn't experience the disaster, since I didn't buy Cyberpunk2077 until some time after release. By the time I bought, virtually ALL bugs were gone. It was a great game - among the best. Phantom Liberty was also a worthy addition for my second play.
With Witcher 3, I bought it with Hearts of Stone plus Blood and Wine as a package. It is my greatest of all time game. There are some things I would very much like to see updated in it for this expansion. I will not go into detail in this comment.
Obviously, Songs of the Past will be the bridge to Witcher 4 to make Ciri a compelling character to play. So long as they don't push the lesbian thing it could be a really great thing. Simply having the protagonist be female does not mean it will be bad.
If you like the Witcher, and if you like to play as a powerful character, there isn't a better and more obvious choice than Ciri. She can be a melding of Witcher and Sorceress. That is better than playing as Triss or Yennefer. If playing as Eskel or another Witcher, it would be a downgrade from Geralt (I would still like that), as Geralt was the ultimate Witcher.
If it is pushing the homo/lesbian thing, then it would be a disaster. If it doesn't deal with sex at all, or perhaps if Ciri went straight, and it keeps the mood that defines the Witcher, then it could be a great expansion and a great sequen in Witcher 4.
You don't have to hate on it just because you haven't played a game with a female main character that you liked.
I played Horizon: Zero Dawn which is a game where you play as a female character. It was a great game. It wasn't a sex game, didn't have any sex in it at all, and it was still a great game.
Maybe it would be awkward to play as Aloy and to have her hook up. I probably would not have liked playing that at all. If it were possible, but entirely avoidable without missing anything of significance, then I can deal with that. Don't make it like Baldur's Gate 3, where it is difficult to avoid, and by avoiding it you miss a lot of content.
What is your real concern? Simply that Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough start? If so, try it AFTER the fixes are in. If you simply want to avoid bugs in the Withcher expansion, simply wait until the bugs are fixed.
Look at Crimson Desert. It had some bugs that were all worked out (actually very quickly) and some details that needed adjustment, and they did a lot, every week to address it. You don't have to buy your game at launch, if you don't want to deal with the things that will need fixing. Why not do that with Witcher 3 Songs of the Past? Wait until the patches are in. As for me for the Witcher expansion, I will be there on day one.
