Written feedback tries to approximate the effectiveness of 1 - 1 tutoring, but it fails miserably. I reckon 9 times out of 10, a 5 minute conference with a student is superior to detailed written feedback that might take 20 minutes to create. #edutwitter #aussieED

Coaching only takes you so far. While good schools can multiplies coaching; a bad school absorbs it. If behaviour, curriculum, assessment and leadership are weak, coaching just tries to compensate for the system. If we really want to improve teaching, we should start coaching principals.
