Very disappointing news for Beechmere residents & their families after all this time. We hope this is not the end & they consider other options like taking legal action themselves using the Defective Premises Act.

We won’t comment on the case ahead of trial, but Beechmere was a timber-frame building under 11m ❌ In similar bldgs: blameless leaseholders face uncapped costs to fix fire safety defects ❌ Still no govt £ to retrofit sprinklers in care homes/ other at-risk bldgs @AlexJJNorris

Yesterday marked the five year anniversary of the tragic fire at Beechmere in Crewe. I spoke to @BBCRadioStoke about how it seems particularly apt to reflect on this tragic event and how the response from our community in Crewe & Nantwich demonstrated Britain at it's very best.

4 years since fire ripped through Beechmere. 150 residents lost their homes & a lifetime of possessions. If the fire service prosecute responsible co's there will be some justice, but relatives say residents have still had no compensation The court hearing is postponed to Oct.
