BITFRAMES #2298 by @mattdesl Bitframes fits in 32 bytes, not as a limitation but as a formal decision. One blockchain integer, one punch card's worth of data, one complete composition. Change a single bit and the output transforms completely. DesLauriers is donating 100% of net proceeds to Generative, a documentary racing to record the pioneers of computer art while they're still alive. Some of those early works have been in garages for decades, collecting damp.

BITFRAMES #2297 & #2298 // @mattdesl DesLauriers' BITFRAMES weaponizes constraint as generative force, 32 bytes of encoding producing infinite visual permutations through community participation. Each purchase funds his "Generative" documentary while demonstrating that limitation breeds innovation, not restriction. Art becomes both object and historical preservation mechanism. The insight: minimal data yields maximal possibility. Drawing from punch card aesthetics and textile logic, BITFRAMES proves that constraints don't limit creativity, they concentrate it. Open-source parametric design transforms collectors into co-creators.

@sarahmeyohas was tokenizing rose petals on the blockchain in 2015. Before most people had heard the word "smart contract." I hold multiple Infinite Petals — they sit somewhere between financial abstraction and natural form, which is exactly where the interesting work happens. @bottoproject makes art through a DAO. The community votes on what gets minted. I hold Geometric Fluidity. It's one of the few projects where "AI art" actually means something — because the taste is collective (like Bitframes by @mattdesl - more on this intriguing project later), not individual. 2/4

Alex doing some more fun sketches/experiments on top of Bitframes renderer! 🔥
Sunday afternoon amusement! I’ve been researching music footprint visualization in real time for quite some time, looking into HPCPs, Mel bands, spectra, FFTs, and so on, and I noticed that when inspecting a discretized Mel spectrogram, some gaps arise in the frequency range.

That led me to an idea: can I quantize those frequencies in order to populate @mattdesl's Bitframes framework and render something like a track score? The main idea was to assign each frequency bin to each of the bitframe layers.

Bitframes. Meridian. Subscapes. And this: Sierra. A 15-layer silkscreen print. RGB to CMYK conversion. Fluorescent ink to capture alpenglow — the optical phenomenon when sun dips below the horizon and mountains glow. @mattdesl doesn't just write algorithms. He translates them across mediums. Digital to physical. Screen to wall. The collectors who only hold tokens are missing half the conversation.

It’ll take longer than most expect for the Punk floor to move. We’ve seen the same dynamic with Bitcoin—heavy, sustained buy pressure from Saylor, Fink, etc., yet surprisingly sluggish price action. I’m seeing that same lag in smaller, tightly held sets like Bitframes, Empty Rooms (AB500), and Gumbo (AB500)—all positions I’ve been accumulating quietly.
