Hey guys, me again with Digimon Up news!
As we learned about 5-6 hours ago (I know, I am late, I slept in because it’s a national holiday in Germany), pre-registrations for Digimon Up are now up and running on app stores! But with a caveat.
As it seems, and this is quite ludicrous, not for Brazil. This can have many reasons, but the most likely culprit is the ECA Digital (locally known as Lei Felca), which prohibits loot boxes from being easily accessible to children and adolescents. For reference, check out: Lei nº 15.211/2025
In light of this law, many Bandai Namco mobile games with similar monetization schemes have had their cash shops heavily restricted (Dragon Ball Legends, Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle), with some reports even claiming they have been removed entirely or made inaccessible in these regions.
At this very moment, we don’t know if that is the actual reason for Digimon Up being inaccessible, or if it’s a simple error on Bandai’s part.
On a more positive note, we have received a couple of in-game screenshots showing the training screen with a sort of skill tree, indicating potential training progression with upgrades and whatnot.
We also have an in-battle confirmation of UP TO 5 DIGIMON participating on each side, with a main Digimon and 4 additional support Digimon, boostable by what looks like old-school Digimon cards (you know, those from the super early 2000s that hardly took off in the west unfortunately).
All in all, exciting that they seem to be showcasing more, but with a sour taste for Brazilian fans. And let me tell you, this stings. Based on my own demographics, Brazilian users are Grindosaur’s second-largest cohort.
South America, in general, has tons of Digimon fans, so I hope the app store issue is simply an error on Bandai’s part, not a deliberate neglect due to recent laws that have come into effect. But it wouldn’t be unprecedented, as it’s not the first time that the region has been shafted.
Little self-advertisement in that regard: Grindosaur will start to support Brazilian Portuguese later this year! I see you all, and I am committed to catering to you all!
