Airdrops De4th!!
Bots & Sybils Are K!ll!ng Them
Ever felt like airdrops were truly fair? Unfortunately, the reality on the ground often tells a different story.
The practice of airdrops, which should be a great way to distribute tokens and build communities, is now under serious threat.
What is main enemy? Not hackers or regulations, but the rampant rise of bots and sybil attacks in the Web3 world.
Imagine this, a new Web3 project launches a massive airdrop for its first 10,000 users.
Within minutes, the allocation is gone. Does that mean 10,000 enthusiastic humans joined? Likely not.
What happened was thousands of automated bots controlled by a handful of "airdrop farmers" swarmed in, creating multiple fake accounts to claim the lion's share of tokens meant for broader distribution.
The Damaging Impact of Bots & Sybils:
Unfair Token Distribution, tokens end up in the hands of a few individuals or entities, instead of being widely dispersed among active and supportive community members. This defeats the original purpose of airdrops.
Irrelevant Communities, projects acquire passive "users" who are only interested in quick profits, not in ecosystem development or product usage.
Project Cost Burden, projects spend significant funds on airdrops, but the results are ineffective because tokens fall into the wrong hands. This represents a significant financial loss.
Loss of Trust, genuine enthusiastic community members become frustrated and lose trust in the airdrop mechanism, and even in the project itself.
Seeing this problem, many Web3 projects are now seeking innovative solutions like Proof of Humanity to ensure every airdrop claim is from a real human being. Without significant changes, the era of airdrops may soon come to an end, or at least, evolve into a very different form.
It's time for us, as the Web3 community, to demand transparency and fairness. If we want airdrops to remain a healthy part of the ecosystem, we must unite against this threat from bots and sybils.
Now i give my full support to
@Humanityprot . Proof of Humanity (PoH) presents by Humanity Protocol promising solution for blockchain projects looking to mitigate the issues of airdrop farming and ensure that their tokens reach genuine human users.
Proof of Humanity (PoH) is a decentralized identity verification system that allows users to prove their human identity on-chain.
By integrating PoH, projects can effectively filter out bots and Sybil attackers, ensuring that airdrops and other token distribution methods are only accessible to verified individuals.
This not only reduces the likelihood of exploitation but also ensures that the cost of customer acquisition is directed towards actual human participants who are more likely to engage with and contribute to the project's ecosystem.
