I take some exception to this. Sure, we require some NaCl, apparently, but it needs to be in proportion to the KCl, at least 2:1 K, but I prefer 4:1, as in dulse seaweed. All red seaweeds are rejuvenating. Even Big Ag has caught on to the extent that huge, ocean floating seaweed farm of one species have been created to keep down the number of dead animals as slaughter time approaches. What do we use NaCl for? For keeping microbes from eating out food. You get too much & you pickle your organs too. Salt in summertime leads to sunstroke. Eat watermelon, berries, & salads. You'll sweat like a pig in 90-degree heat pulling weeds, but the person next to you eating Pringles and fries won't be able to stand outside. I ran my only marathon with no water or electrolyte consumption at all simply because it was a course I laid out with my car doing laps around my neighbothood, so there were no Porta-Potties or refreshment stands in sight. I knew if ran back to my apartment to use the bathroom, I would've stopped for good. At 9am, when I went out, it was only going to be an other practice 18-miles or maybe 21, but once I got to 18, I was still keeping my pace & felt good, so I kept going. Shortly after that, I ran out of gas, and it all became mind over matter the rest of the way. I was aiming for 4 hrs at 58-yrs old, but it ended up at about 4-1/2 instead. One of my 15-mile practice runs was on July 4, and it was 95 degrees. The stone masons repairing a garage opening that day were dying out there with their Cokes and pizzas. They could believe what I was doing in front of them for over 2 hrs. Sorry for TMI. I'm much older now and have no intention of ever repeated that experience.
