Rob I know you know about the Gresford mine disaster and the really nice touch by putting the year on the shirt collar but I was listening to the radio the other day and I heard the opera singer Paul Robertson well he was performing in Carnarvon that day of the disaster read up.

It's important to make the most of my free Saturdays before the drudgery of the football season starts again. A #brassband contest at a brewery, hence leaving the car at home. The first band chose to play the Gresford Hymn which always goes down well.

WHAT A BUSY DAY IT HAS BEEN FOR WREXHAM UNITE! Firstly, a huge thank you to Raise The Flags Shrewsbury PLUS . We cannot thank our brothers over the border enough for their support today with the cherry picker. After our flags on Gresford Roundabout were cut down not once, but TWICE, the lads stepped up and helped us get them back where they belong. They are now flying proudly from the very top of the lampposts. A massive thank you also to a local Wrexham lad with the relevant ticket who volunteered his time, travelled to Shrewsbury and back, and operated it for us. Absolute legend. Without the support of our brothers in our neighbouring nation, this simply would not have been possible. The support, generosity and solidarity shown by the guys from Shrewsbury has been outstanding, and Wrexham Unite is incredibly grateful. Thank you, lads. We won’t forget it. Always got each other’s backs 🤝 This evening we also held a flash protest in Queen’s Square. A handful of people turned up, but that’s completely beside the point. It’s not about numbers. It’s about standing up. It’s about showing solidarity. It’s about making your voice heard. Most importantly, tonight was about standing in solidarity with the people of Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland following the horrific scenes we witnessed last night. Wrexham Unite can proudly say that tonight we stood with Northern Ireland. FOUR NATIONS. ONE KINGDOM. One thing that did not go unnoticed was the complete absence of police in Queen’s Square tonight. Not one police officer. Why? Because there was nobody there to counter-protest. There was no threat of disorder. There was no threat of violence. North Wales Police know exactly what Wrexham Unite is about. We are not there to loot. We are not there to cause violence. We are not there to intimidate anyone. We are not there to destroy property. We are there to peacefully show our resistance to government policies and to stand up for the issues we believe matter to ordinary people. Tonight proved that when people gather peacefully, respectfully and lawfully, there is no need for a police presence. No drama. No violence. No disorder. Just ordinary people standing together and making their voices heard. For every flag removed, more will go up. We are not going anywhere. See you Saturday. 12PM. Wynnstay. LFG WREXHAM! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿✊🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 PS here’s a gorgeous photo of one our organisers looking her best 🤣 @RaisetheflagsS

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 You can call us “far right.” You can call us “racist.” We do not care. BUT YOU CAN NEVER CALL US LIARS. As we said, for every flag taken down, we will put up two more. Within 24 hours, we’ve done exactly that with the help of our brothers over the border @RaisetheflagsS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The dragons on Gresford roundabout have been restored, along with plenty more there and down Llanypwll Link Road next to The Flash. We don’t back down. We don’t give up. We don’t disappear because a handful of people want to spoil it for the majority. This is our town, our streets, and our beautiful Welsh flag. As long as there are people willing to defend it, the Red Dragon will keep flying. Thank you Shrewsbury for your help. Four Nations. One Kingdom. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 gofund.me/641e3bb51

NEW BEGINNINGS: DAVE EVANS IS NEW BUCKLEY TOWN FC FIRST TEAM MANAGER Pete Edwards, Chairman BTFC “We are delighted to welcome Dave who you will all know from his time at FC Queen's Park, Ruthin Town and most recently, Gresford Athletic. After speaking to Dave, we were extremely impressed with his plans, organisation and passion to join our Club. I can confidently say that Dave's experience in Tier 2 is massive for Buckley and I am overjoyed to have Dave on board to take the Club forward into our next era. Please all join me in welcoming Dave and his team, big boots to fill, but I know as fans you will be behind the team and give them your typical Buckley Town Football Club support. #WeAreBuckley #UpTheBucks” Mark Duffy, Vice-Chairman BTFC “On behalf of everyone at Buckley Town, I’m delighted to welcome Dave Evans as our new First Team Manager. Dave brings great experience and a clear vision for how he wants to move the club forward, and we’re confident he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter. I’d also like to place on record our thanks to Gresford Athletic for their professionalism throughout this process. We look forward to supporting Dave and his team and wish him every success in his new role. A further statement in relation to the backroom staff, and the restructure of our Reserves and U19’s section will be issued later this week.” Dave Evans, 1st Team Manager, BTFC "I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to be First Team Manager at Buckley Town Football Club. From the very first conversations I had with Pete and Mark, I saw just how ambitious everyone connected with Buckley is, and I am incredibly proud and humbled that a club of this size and stature has trusted to me to take the Club forward. It is a fantastic opportunity and one that I simply could not turn down. "Buckley Town is a football club with tremendous potential. The facilities are right up there with some of the very best in the league and it is obvious that there is a real desire throughout the club to continue progressing and moving forward. As a manager, those are the types of challenges and environments you want to be part of, and I genuinely cannot wait to get started. "One thing that has always stood out to me about Buckley Town is the support. Whether at home or away, the backing this club receives has always been unbelievable. The supporters are passionate, loyal and care deeply about their football club. I know how important that connection between the fans, players and staff is, and I hope over the coming months we can give the supporters something to really cheer about. Success is always built together and I firmly believe that when everybody pulls in the same direction, special things can happen. "I also recognise that there are big shoes to fill. The previous management team did a fantastic job during their tenure and deserve enormous credit particularity Asa in his first management role. They leave behind strong foundations and it is now my responsibility to continue building on the excellent work that has already been done. "For me, the key moving forward is togetherness. If we can keep that strong connection between the supporters, players, committee and everyone associated with the football club, then there is no reason why we cannot look forward to having a very successful season. There is real potential here and I am excited about what the future can hold for Buckley Town Football Club. "I cannot wait to begin this new chapter and give absolutely everything I have for this football club." Pic FAW

Paedophile catholic priest's vile messages to children are exposed - as he remains free in the community: 'There is no such thing as too young' Less than a week before his pre‑Christmas arrest, a former Catholic priest offered to be a sex guide to an undercover police officer posing online as a 14‑year‑old boy. Guy Norman Hartcher, 79, was arrested on December 23, 2024, after attempting to procure sex from three individuals who claimed to be underage online. One of these individuals was an undercover officer who had been messaging the ex‑priest through Telegram for weeks while posing as a teen named Ben. Police arrested Hartcher as he sat in his red Kia at Pendle Hill in Sydney's west, believing he was about to meet the young victim. Video shows sex‑crimes squad detectives handcuffing the retired priest outside a South Asian minimart. The former Vincentian priest pleaded guilty in March to multiple child abuse material charges and to attempting to procure children for sex. Agreed facts tendered in the NSW District Court on Monday detail the depravity of the 79‑year‑old's online activity throughout 2024. 'There is no such thing as too young,' he told one user he shared child abuse material with in November of that year. His online discussions with 'Ben' involved topics such as sexual intercourse, masturbation and his own sexual experience. 'This is me baby,' he said when sending his picture to undercover police. 'Way older but interested in talking sexy and being your guide to sex as much as you want.' Hartcher tried to solicit sex from two other users claiming they were teenage girls on the Zangi app, offering them Apple gift cards in exchange for images. He told one user claiming to be 15-years-old that he wanted to be her 'dirty daddy' and discussed meeting up on Christmas Eve for sex. 'You will thank daddy on Tuesday baby,' he said. In chats with someone else he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, he used the love heart and eggplant emojis. The former priest asked how the girl had not yet been sexually assaulted by her uncle, father, teacher, or classmate's dad. In chatting with another 14-year-old, he mentioned how he loved the 'little girl cuddly toy' on her bed. He also said he found her younger cousin attractive. Hartcher shared explicit child abuse images and videos, including AI-generated material, with six others through Telegram. Many of these texts and images are too explicit to report on, and included topics such as incest. He boasted about being able to train young girls so they became attached and ready for sex, telling one user he could share this knowledge. 'What I really NEED is a 12 yr old,' he wrote. 'I had one I raised and trained a few years ago but when she finished school I encouraged her to get a boyfriend.' He also claimed a naked teenage boy he raped in a changeroom while on holiday in Fiji had yelled and tried to escape before settling down. Hartcher remains out on bail and will be sentenced in July. He previously served as the head priest of the Gresford-Dungog parish in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese in the early 2000s but later retired. How is someone who’s admitted to crimes like this still out on bail?
