It is claimed by muslim general Sefer Halilovic that the "bosnian army" was already 2/3rds muslim and 1/3 croat and Serb in the early phases of the war. By early 1995, the stats shown that 95% muslim and 5% croat/Serb/Others composed the "abih."
If we accept Halilovic's claim and the "abih" statistics then the question is why the sudden drop of non-muslims in the "abih." The answer is not shocking for Serbs or croats, but it is something bosnian muslims pretend never happened. That answer is the progressive marginalization on non-muslims in the abih due to increasing Islamic influence and growing "bosniak nationalism"
By individual cases we can see the creeping islamization, bosniak nationalism, anti-Christian anti-Serb and croat sentiments of the abih and its Sarajevo gov led by the Islamist Alija Izetbegovic.
1) Jovan Divjak (Serb): Arrested, accused of being a collaborator, threatened with death, not allowed to make important decision as muslims didn't trust him, and sidelined and retired by Alija Izetbegovic.
2) Stjepan Siber (Croat): Not allowed to make important decisions for the abih as a non-muslim, fears he collaborated with the croat HVO, sidelined and retired by Izetbegovic. After the war he accused Alija of supporting Islamic fundamentalism. Similar with sarajevo's defense minster, croat Jerko Doko, who was replaced with bosniak hardliners.
3) Ivan Mijacevic (Croat): Commanded the 107 MHVO brigade in Gradacac. Replaced by a muslim as the muslim gov and army accused him of being a collaborator with the "HVO of Mostar"
4) Cedo Domuz (Serb): RUMORED by some to have been killed by his "muslim comrades."
5) Zeljko Knez (Croat) Commander of the "2nd corps abih" Replaced through growing islamization of the "abih" and the perceived failure of the 2nd corps for focusing too much to "helping croats" cut the Serb corridor instead of relieving the muslim enclaves in East Bosnia.
6) Zoran Cegar (Croat): Threats of death by his muslim comrades in Vikic's special forces, later left the abih in Summer of 1992 and lived abroad for a while.
7) Vlado Santic (Croat): HVO Bihac commander who was under the muslim 5th corps. Likely murdered by Dudakovic and Hamdija Abdic for criticizing the Sarajevo government for being increasingly islamist and for seeking to normalize relations with Fikret Abdic and his moderate muslims.
8) Juka Prazina, Musan Topalovic, and Vikic's special forces frequently targeted Serbs, croats, and even Ukrainians living in their areas of control even if they were loyalists. These tensions later resulted in the split with the HVO Sarajevo and Izetbegovic forcing them to disband.
9) Tuzla's growing islamization resulted in the departure of the many local Serbs and croats in Tuzla, and additionally forcing the HVO Tuzla under the muslim 2nd corps to disband.
10) Dragan Vikic (half Serb half Croat): Replaced by Alija Izetbegovic's yes man Kemal Ademovic who was a radical bosniak nationalist and did Alija's dirty work in cleaning up the Seve's crimes by killing key members of it as they knew too much.
11) Srdjan Manigoda (Serb): One of the abih's best soldiers in Jablanica defected to the Serb VRS due to growing islamism within the abih. Ironically he received military awards from both the VRS and abih.
12) In 1996, the Sarajevo-loyal croat HVO Usora forces briefly clashed with muslim commander Sakib Mahmuljin who went to usora to disband the local HVO and replace them with muslim military/police.
13) When Alija was captured by the JNA in May 1992, the sarajevo collective presidency did not collectively decide his replacement rather Alija radioed in and select the "yugoslav representative" Ejup Ganic, who later turned out to be a radical bosniak, thus sidelining croats and moderate muslims of the presidency such as Stjepan Kljuic, Franjo Boras, and Fikret Abdic (who defeated Alija in presidential elections).
14) Alija became more and more reliant on Iranian/Pakistani/Arab money, weapons, and diplomacy. He increasingly islamized the abih such as forming exclusive muslim brigades like the 7th muslim brigade and bringing all sorts of islamic terrorists into Bosnia such as Al-qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
The list goes on and on, but there is a common theme here...
