This is very thoughtful and aligns with what I have been saying for 5 years: world needs 3 internets. One each for the US, China, and India.
Rest of the world will pick from these choices. No doubt, Pakistan, North Korea will go with China. Similarly Mexico, Canada, and UK would go with the US. Rest of the countries would have to evaluate pros and cons.
Russia for instance would like India as its relation with China are opportunistic. Prior to Trump, Europe may have picked the US blindly. Not anymore. China would court them heavily.
For all of these countries, Indian internet is a safe bet. No hegemonic ambition, a large diverse country that ensures that India would not allow "death to Islam" or praise for Hitler.
Terming Indian internet as a "sovereign" dilutes that position for no upside except giving fodder to critics. Just imagine, Iran adopting Indian model and Bangladesh showing inclination to join China's model that is trained to Pooh Pooh religion.
The problem is Sarvam is their subpar founders who probably got funding from Indian government due to their proximity to Nandan- who famously claimed that India does not need such a model. There is plenty of talent available in India to replace this subpar team with real leaders. Especially the CEO. A CEO with vision.
