Dear Lineans and Frogbros, Yesterday, the Linea community faced a tough moment when Pond Fun was exploited by its lead developer, Genesis. He drained the liquidity, withdrew 64 ETH, and bridged it out of Linea, impacting projects. I spent the day investigating, speaking with the Linea team, and aligning with affected projects. My immediate priority is restoring liquidity and keeping the momentum of building strong communities on Linea. I’m personally stepping in to cover 50% of the stolen ETH (32 ETH) to help projects recover, whether they choose to relaunch or add liquidity. Every project has its own plan, and I’ll support them however needed, with this financial support and co-marketing. This ETH comes from my personal savings. I feel responsible for trusting the wrong person and Linea deserves builders who show up in tough times. Long-term, I’m focused on ensuring that what comes next is even stronger. I’m exploring a partnership with a professional dev shop to build a new launchpad, with sustainable fees that support affected projects. My focus is about building an even better foundation for memecoins and communities on Linea: more security and higher transparency. Some have asked for details on the hacker. While Pond Fun was audited and externally secure, there was always a centralization risk. My plan was to bring in a second dev and implement a multisig over the LP contract, but that process stalled. The next step is securing all web properties and ensuring the future of our platforms is more decentralized and resilient. Genesis thought he could steal from a thriving ecosystem and get away with it. Instead, all he did was destroy his future while we keep building the most Ethereum-aligned L2, backed by Consensys. This is a setback, but it won’t define us. Today we handle the emergency. Tomorrow we build stronger. Thank you for your support. Stay frogged 🐸
