Maybe they got it confused …however , implemented aggressive price hikes recently, citing global supply disruptions:
•Reece: Announced a 36% hike on PVC and plastic pipes effective April 18, 2026.
•Vinidex: Confirmed "unprecedented disruption" to supply chains, leading to immediate price volatility.
•Polypipe: Notified customers that April 2026 resin delivery prices are up 40% compared to March.
In response to these "triple hikes," the Federal Housing Minister has called for urgent meetings with industry stakeholders to address the threat to housing affordability.
•Ethylene Costs: This oil spike transmitted directly to the ethylene chain, with Chinese producers like Sinopec raising quotations significantly to match the rising cost of production.
•Supply Shortage: With up to 50% of global polyethylene supply offline or constrained due to the conflict, replacement resin prices have reached "extraordinarily higher" levels
The Master Builders Association is currently lobbying the government to investigate whether these "triple hikes" constitute price gouging, as some increases appear to exceed the raw material cost jumps.
