Google DeepMind just published the most important AI paper of 2026. It's called "From AGI to ASI." Marcus Hutter is on it. Iason Gabriel is on it. 14 of the most senior people at Google DeepMind are on it. They published it 3 days ago and almost no one is talking about it. We have spent the last three years obsessing over when AGI will arrive. DeepMind is already past that. They are modeling the transition to Artificial Superintelligence (ASI). And their definition of ASI isn't just an AI that is smarter than a human. It is a system that is more intelligent and cognitively capable than entire, large-scale human organizations. Not a single genius. An institutional-level intellect. The report is 57 pages long. It outlines four exact pathways we will take to get there: - Scaling AGI: Pumping incomprehensible amounts of compute and data into current models. - Paradigm Shifts: New algorithmic breakthroughs that replace the architectures we use today. - Recursive Self-Improvement: The AI learns to write better code and upgrade its own intelligence without human help. - Multi-Agent Collectives: Millions of AI agents coordinating together to form an emergent hive-mind Superintelligence. But here is the detail that should make you pause. DeepMind points out that digital intelligence has massive asymmetric advantages over human biology. It can be perfectly copied. It doesn't sleep. Its processing speed isn't constrained by biological neurons. Because of this, they warn that the arrival of AGI won't be a single, stable milestone where we can catch our breath. It will trigger a rapid, cascading series of transformative breakthroughs as the AI accelerates itself toward Superintelligence. The timeline has shifted. The most advanced AI lab in the world is no longer just researching how to build AGI. They are mapping out what AGI will build next.

Israel's attempts to dissociate itself from its genocide is unraveling. The recent call published by The Lancet to remove the Israeli Medical Association from the World Medical Association is delivering a precise blow to self-perpetuated Israeli delusions of "professionalism" and "morality". The IMA fully accepted the widely discredited Israeli claim that all Gazan hospitals served as Hamas command posts and did not merit professional solidarity, even as Israel was intentionally killing medical personnel. Letters of protest were issued only when it became clear that Israel was starving Gaza. In fact, letters of protest were most likely issued when the leadership of the IMA realized it no longer had international allies and that its attempts to weave its way between Israeli authorities and universal professional standards were failing. When a well-know physician, an anaesthesiologist known for joining rescue missions to far-off destinations (demonstrating Israel's "morality") as well as for serving in the IDF reserves rven after he had turned 80, came forth to testify about the events taking place in the infamous Sde Teiman camp, he was seen as a civic hero. His testimony brought about the arrest of a group of prison guards who had been documented abusing a Palestinian prisoner. While these guards have since been reinstated, the physician published an op-ed with Haaretz today, self-exculpatory but also full of justifications for his actions while serving in the camp. He specifically demanded defense as a servant of the state, insinuating that responsibility was now a lethal load and was being denied by every component of the genocidal apparatus. All this to say that Israel can no longer claim even the pretense of coherence in its self-justifying narratives. It is now a matter of denial ("it's not genocide!") or "following orders". This process has taken a criminally long time. It is compounded by Israel's removal from international and regional decision-making forums. Still, it is gathering momentum. The rats are fleeing.

Our new paper has been published in Marine Ecology Progress Series @MEPS_IR !! Kodama et al. 2026. Day-night changes in vertical distribution of epifauna associated with Sargassum horneri. Mar Ecol Prog Ser 787:meps15165 doi.org/10.3354/meps15165

Seaweed beds are busy habitats for tiny animals. Most stayed at similar heights by day and night, but some moved upward at night. Overall, height within the seaweed mattered more than time of day. At night, other animals appeared nearby. bit.ly/meps15165 @MasafumiKodama

One month after the Oldham Assurance Review was published, Andy Burnham wrote an open letter to the people of the town. It was presented as leadership. An attempt to reassure the public that justice was finally being pursued. In today's article, I take apart that letter line by line. This is Part 5 of Burnham and the Pakistani Rape Gang Cover Up redwallandtherabble.co.uk/th… Read it and tell me the would be Prime Minister was not involved in a cover up. Go on, defend him. _________ I’m Raja Miah MBE. For seven years, I led a campaign that exposed how senior Labour politicians helped protect Pakistani rape gangs. The people of my town EXPOSED ANDY BURNHAM and helped force the national inquiry. You won’t see me on the BBC. You won’t read my work in the legacy press. That’s not an accident. This video was published in January 2020. And that timing matters, because it shows Russian “Ukrainian biolab” propaganda did not magically appear after the 2022 invasion. Moscow had been dragging this corpse of a conspiracy around for years, especially against Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and other post-Soviet countries that dared to cooperate with the West. The video explains the U.S. Biological Threat Reduction Program as exactly what the name says: a threat-reduction program. Its purpose was to help partner countries secure dangerous Soviet-era pathogens, improve disease detection, strengthen public-health laboratories, and stop natural outbreaks from becoming regional security disasters. In Ukraine, the official priority was to consolidate and secure pathogens and help detect and report disease outbreaks before they became wider threats. The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency also states that the work was peaceful, subject to export-control and vetting processes, and did not sponsor gain-of-function research or human experimentation. The video also makes clear why Russia hated these labs: not because they were secret weapons sites, but because they represented Western cooperation with countries Moscow still treats like stolen property. Georgia’s Lugar Center is the perfect example. Russia smeared it as a U.S. proxy bioweapons facility, while Georgia opened it to international review. In 2018, 22 experts and observers from 17 countries inspected the Lugar Center under the Biological Weapons Convention framework and found transparency around its activities. Russian experts were invited, then refused to participate, because obviously the propaganda works better when you never look at the evidence. So the Russian narrative is not “skepticism.” It is geopolitical sewage with a lab coat thrown over it. The same machine that calls invasions “liberation” and civilian massacres “staged” also tried to turn public-health laboratories into cartoon villain bioweapon factories. The goal was not truth. The goal was fear, confusion, and poisoning public trust in countries moving closer to the West. The whole point of the video is transparency: these projects were not classified, scientists were encouraged to publish, international experts were invited in, and the work was described as peaceful public-health cooperation. Russia’s claim was the opposite: secret U.S. bioweapons plots on Russia’s borders. One side offered inspections, publications, and open cooperation. The other side offered paranoia, state media hysteria, and the usual Kremlin swamp gas. This is basically pre-2022 evidence that the “Ukrainian biolab” panic was never a serious argument. It was an old Russian disinformation weapon, reheated when useful, then thrown into the invasion narrative to make Russia look like the victim while it was the aggressor.
