Saturday's horse racing thread 🧵 Haydock 1.45 Friendly Soul 15/8 NAP Haydock 2.20 Langstone 6/1 each way Curragh 3.05 Comanche Brave 9/4 York 3.50 Reliable Ricki 9/2 each way Goodwood 4.20 Valedictory 9/4 NEXT BEST Windsor 7.00 Marengo Storm 10/3 I wanted to wait and see what the market was going to do regarding FRIENDLY SOUL given the layoff but it is suggesting she will be fit and ready to go and if she is then quite simply she'll win this. She was massively progressive when last seen and if bringing near her best will make a winning return against this field. I have been waiting to see LANGSTONE out again and now handicapping he could easily find another chunk of improvement. He has really impressed the last twice and I love his attitude. This is tougher granted but the yard often target this race and he looks a horse to keep on side. Laureate Crown has really found his stride and looks the danger despite a further rise. Freshened up with Ryan Moore back in the saddle COMANCHE BRAVE is expected to take a lot of beating here. He ran at the top level last time out and certainly wasn't disgraced. This is easier and if things pan out favourably he should have a great chance to get back to winning ways. Montassib looks the one to give him most to think about. Trainer George Scott has hit form so RELIABLE RICKI looks worth siding with here. He is thriving himself eyeing up a hat-trick now and impressed winning on handicap debut last time out. The Resdev Scholar should make a race of it and I fancy the pair to come clear of this field so it might be worth covering the reverse forecast on them at a nice price. I've got to be honest I thought VALEDICTORY was given a bit of a shocker at Ascot last time out. He was never put in the race and ran on when it was all over. He should relish going up in trip here and if he handles the track as the undulations can catch some horses out then he is handicapped to win. He has lots more improvement to come as his stamina is drawn out and I'm confident he can resume his progress now. The money was down and MARENGO STORM made no mistake at Kempton winning readily. This son of Havana Grey has more to come now handicapping and looks worth siding with. He should keep progressing with experience and looks a great bet against this field. Kingman colt Firewalker can do better and looks the danger so I might have an each way saver on him or cover him for a place as he looks a bit overpriced.

YES I'M MALI is the one i like 3 courses runners in his career winning off 77 and then was 4th of 82. Was then 6th out 82 again. Has changed stables and ran ok at Newbury last week. ADVISED YES I'M MALI e/w 2:05 Novice stakes - 6F A lot of newcomers here and i'm going to go with one of the more experienced types in LAKE MURITZ who won at beverley before finished 6th in a listed event last week here. Big drop in grade and could make her experience count. ADVISED LAKE MURTIZ win 2:40 5F handicap One of my best bets comes here in FORTIFICATION, who was really impressive last week on stable debut and upped 5lbs may not stop him up in grade. ADVISED FORTIFICATION e/w 3:15 BRONTE FILLIES CUP 1M6F We have a short price fav here in DANIELLE who has decent form in the book, but as does LAVA STREAM who went down by a neck in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot in 2024. She finished ahead of DANIELLE that day and may have needed her come back at Nottingham. Could be overpriced for sure. ADVISED LAVA STREAM WIN 3:50 7F handicap A competitive 3 year old handicap in which plenty have chances, i'm with THE RESDEV SCHOLAR who was 3rd over course and distance beaten 2 lengths last time out. Only up a pound for that and i similar performance could see him go close ADVISED THE RESDEV SCHOLAR e/w 4:25 1m2f Handicap Another competitive race for 3 years in which I like PLAN C for ALAN KING. 2nd at Sandown when last seen behind ACCREDIT who went on to win at haydock and was thought about for the guineas and the derby. So off a mark of 79 PLAN C could be well handicapped here on handicap debut. ADVISED PLAN C e/w 5:00 7F handicap Looks above decent handicap on paper, but i wanna side with QUEST OF FUN who was 5th he was week when not getting the clearest of runs and was well backed on the day so could go close off 1lb lower.
