His comments are spot on. When you commit a crime, especially murder, there are consequences.
Judge John Roach, the no-nonsense Texas judge who presided over the the Karmelo Anthony murder trial - believes the jury made the right decision, in sentencing him to 35 years in prison in the stabbing death of Austin Metcalf. About Anthony, Judge Roach added, "He seems like a nice young man who committed a crime and he understands today more than any day before the consequences of committing a crime like he did." The jury did not believe his self-defense claim, nor did they accept a proposed "sudden passion" argument that would have dropped the charges to manslaughter and shrunk his max sentence to 20 years. Roach answered criticism of the proceedings this way, "As long as I follow the law, I sleep well at night. I know I made people mad but I'm not here to make them happy either."
Well said Judge Roach and the majority of the country supports you for it.
