If you grew up in a Caribbean household, you know the front room was sacred. The plastic-covered settee. The display cabinet with the good glasses nobody was allowed to touch. The family photos, the doilies, the records stacked just so. This year we're bringing it back, with our historically recreated front room provided by Tree of Life Wythenshawe. Step in and take a walk through the homes our parents and grandparents built when they first arrived.
Right alongside it, our Elders Tent is a space to sit, reflect and share. Come and hear the stories firsthand, the ones that don't make the history books but live in the hearts of those who were there. It's more than a display. It's a feeling, a memory and a thank you all at once. We are here because the Windrush generation was there.

We started on the second half of our coffee supply today. It appears there is some chance we will survive our excessive and dissolute behavior long enough to resupply in California.
There's still nearly 4 lbs of beef in the freezer enough to indulge ourselves for three days let's say Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Then maybe a couple days of creamy rice with chicken, a day or so of noodles, and a victory burger in the Marina!
3:00 pm: 788 miles to the gate, course 95°.
Still bouncy. This will probably be our lives for the next week.
4:37 pm: we just crossed 139° West. I am NEVER going back to watching paint dry!
4:00 am: we're nearly at 90° and running 5 knots close hauled. We just reefed and are more nearly normal again. I couldn't sleep forward, so I'm on the settee. Going back to sleep.
Still pretty rough. Cooking is a challenge. We might just survive on coffee and power bars today.
It's cloudy, so Starlink is iffy. If you don't get this today, that's why.
We just crossed the 700 miles from San Francisco line. 670 to the Farallon Islands.

A "taxa das blusinhas" vai voltar, e o Lula sabia disso o tempo todo.
Em 2027 a reforma tributária vai iniciar a cobrança de CBS em cima dessas importações.
Qual vai ser a alíquota? Será publicado em dezembro. Depois das eleições. Quando todo mundo já estiver reeleito ou derrotado.
E aí que o governo foi espertinho no jeito que "aboliu" a taxa.
A MP 1357/2026 altera o Decreto Lei de 1804 de 1980, que fala sobre a taxação de importações.
E ele fala sobre a isenção de Imposto de Produtos Industrializados, e Imposto de Importação.
Só que quando a reforma tributária entrar, agora elas vão pagar um novo imposto, o CBS.
Na prática, isso anula a MP do governo que "aboliu" a taxa das blusinhas, porque um novo imposto é criado, que não foi abolido, já que a abolição veio ANTES do imposto.
O Lula teria que criar uma NOVA MP, isentando importações abaixo de 50 USD desse novo imposto.
E por que ele faria isso?
Se ele for reeleito, ora agora já foi. Agora pode taxar sim. Depois em 2032 ele dá um jeito de "abolir de novo" pra campanha do próximo petista.
Se ele não for reeleito... o Congresso ainda foi. E esse Congresso quer gastar, e quer a parte deles. As emendas dos deputados não se pagam sozinhos.
E eles mesmos podem garantir que o CBS incida sim em importações abaixo de 50 USD.
Eles já estão ou reeleitos ou já demitidos. Agora só daqui 4 anos.

Having just reviews some papers to go to the co-chairs of a committee, I was struck by the absurdity of the title. Can I propose that "co-chairs" is replaced by "settee" ?
