Here’s an interesting unintended consequence:
Many of the land invasions around Cape Town happened simply because the property owners couldn’t get planning approval or re-zoning despite decades of trying so the land remained empty and unguarded.
If you look into the history of how many of these illegal settlements started you will find this is a common theme.

The Epstein Victims Fund program, paid out roughly $121–125 million total to about 150 victims averaging around $800,000 per person, awards varied based on factors like the severity and number of incidents claimed. Individual payouts were kept confidential by design.
They also recieved funds from bank settlements, JPMorgan's $290M or Deutsche Bank's $75M or other estate-related resolutions, but again, those are not itemized publicly for named individuals.
After decades they are back with Congress Senate and countless lawyers for more money with hearings, subpoena's, 24/7 mainstream coverage.
