Nederland is de grootste investeerder in natuur. Levert die mega-investering iets op? Niks goeds. We betalen ons blauw aan ‘natuur’ maar worden er zelf uitgejaagd. Is het niet door de wolf, dan wel door de vele verbodsborden. Jongste slachtoffer: de Wadden. Daar zou het met de natuur zo vreselijk slecht gaan dat de mens op moet rotten. De Vliehors, de Slufter: we mogen er niet meer wandelen, maar moeten achter de hekken blijven als het aan de natuurorganisaties ligt. Horror De Groene Maffia heeft belang bij horrorverhalen over de staat van de natuur, want dat levert donaties, leden en overheidssteun op. Dat zeg ik niet, ik citeer Henk Rampen, oud-regiohoofd van Natuurmonumenten. In de jaren ’70 was er wel degelijk wat aan de hand, zegt Rampen: ‘zure regen, de Rijn als open riool, pesticiden, ruilverkaveling, snelwegen door natuurgebieden’. Maar natuurorganisaties blijven op ons schuldgevoel drukken om te verhullen dat er sindsdien enorm veel is verbeterd. De biodiversiteit is spectaculair toegenomen. Honderden planten- en diersoorten kwamen terug, zoals de moeraswolfsklauw, het melkviooltje, lepelaars en zeearenden. De natuur is veerkrachtig en weerbaar, zelfs veengebieden herstelden goed van de droge zomers van 2018, 2019 en 2020. Om de angst te blijven aanjagen bedacht de Groene Maffia een slim instrument: wensnatuur. Laat je Moeder Aarde haar gang gaan, dan verandert Nederland in een bos. Dus maakten de geldbeluste natuurorganisaties spreadsheets vol met ‘doelsoorten’: plantjes die hier niet willen groeien en vogels die hier niet willen broeden. Gevecht Natuurbeleid werd een boekhoudsysteem, dat tegen de natuur in werkt. Alsof de natuur een apparaat is waar je geld in stopt, waarna er precies het gewenste aantal vogels, planten en vlinders uit komt rollen. Zo werkt natuur niet. Moeder Aarde gaat daar zelf over. Natuur verandert. Soorten komen en gaan. Gebieden worden natter, droger, warmer. Maar dat mag in Nederland niet. Daar willen ecologen met heel veel belastinggeld in de achterzak de natuur overrulen. De bomen moeten weg en de heideplantjes moeten terug. Zo wordt natuurherstel een peperduur gevecht tégen de natuur. We hebben geen natuurcrisis. We hebben een natuurbeleidscrisis, verkocht als reddingsoperatie voor de planeet.
