I'm a commercial pilot having lot's of hours logged. Because I make really good pay I can afford to fly a King Air 300 turboprop. Occasionally, friends who fly w/me to dinner and places beg me to do this for them. It's a kick! Then typically an ATC guy radio's; "King Air Delta three seven what altitude are you wanting" with attitude in his tone.... LOL. I reply with the time tested pilot remark; "Sorry, we spilled coffee, returning to assigned altitude" then just to be coy, I offer him a pilots report on turbulence that's not really what I say it is. Other pilots who know what's up -as does the ATC guy - click several times on their mic switch further annoying the ATC guy. Now, it's safe w/o other traffic nearby. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the ATC ppl, but tone requires an appropriate response as long as I'm not told by him "King Air Delta three seven call the tower upon landing..." which no pilot wants to hear resulting in other smar-t-pants pilots 'clicking" their mic switchs signifying that I just got schooled. Hopefully, the kid thought it was fun too. And Delta 3-7 isn't my tail number for all the FAA ppl reading this.
