The system was intended to match heavily impaired riders with drivers who had specialized training, restrict access to shared rides like UberPool, or adjust pickup points to safer, well-lit areas.

In 2018 I took an Uberpool across Manhattan for $1.78, less than the subway. Today the same ride is $20 and nobody is surprised. Todays equivalent is @claudeai 's 200 dollar per month plan. 3 reasons the end of free tokens is near & what to do about it: douwe.com/blog/2026/0518/

one time Uber's data center went down in China due to overheating. the entire company, still hungover from a party, had to redeploy and reconfigure all the services over a few hours. I had to manually relaunch uberpool, configure availability, and pricing that night.

🤔No white people?Interesting, .@RepJayapal Guess the Mayflower was just a very crowded Uberpool for the Global South. 🙄
Rep. Pramila Jayapal claims the USA was built by “Somalis, Indians, Latinos, and Africans.” I guess white people didn’t develop this country, at all. My bad 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think self driving tech will allow a new category of mass transportation. Not a taxi, not a bus, but something like uberpool. You walk one or two blocks to a major street, get picked up by a vehicle that holds ~12 people max. The vehicles route and passenger selection is optimized to reduced starts and stops. Complicated routes may need transfers, but for most travelers, they'll have less walking between pickups/dropoffs and destinations than current mass transit options, faster travel times, and they won't contribute to congestion at the scale that individual taxis would.

16th Transporter mission and still making it look like a cosmic UberPool. 🚀📦 119 payloads? At this point, even the satellites are carpooling. SpaceX really said “mass transit” and meant it. Absolute legend stuff.

You lying. UberX (private rides) are a completely separate from UberPool (shared rides). 0% chance this happened unless he was clowning you.

WHAT?????? According to rosap.ntl.bts.gov (2019), around 82% of all rides are 2 people or less. Company filings mention average occupancy around 1.3–1.55 in some regions but do not break it down by passenger count. Pooled options (UberPool/Lyft Shared) have since been scaled back or discontinued in many markets, which would likely keep the >2-passenger share similar or slightly lower today. @garyblack00 blocked me when I stopped subscribing to him, but this post is a reminder as to why I stopped! The idiot is referring to the vehicle market, not the ride market. He can't seem to understand the difference.
You’re forgetting that the iPhone will have no keyboard, a form factor that makes up less than 1% of the smartphone market. So demand will be limited.

I remember the weekend 24h subways from when I interned in Philly in 2017, but never took them. Uberpool was like $4 so didn’t make sense. Tho, I rode the El and buses everyday to get around and never had any issues, often the El was completely packed.
