Oliver Tree has tragically passed away today at just 32 after a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro 😔
According to CNN Brasil, the American singer Oliver Tree Nickell was among the six victims killed after two helicopters collided in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday morning. The report says he was in Brazil as part of his international tour, after performing in São Paulo on June 6.
Oliver Tree was never just a musician. He was a full performance-art universe, the bowl cut, the oversized jeans, the neon windbreakers, the absurd comedy, and the deeply emotional songs all became part of the same unmistakable identity.
From “Life Goes On” and “Miss You” to albums like Ugly Is Beautiful, Cowboy Tears, and Alone in a Crowd, Oliver built a career around turning weirdness into something honest. His music crossed pop, rock, electronic, hip-hop, and internet culture, while his shows mixed live performance with theatrical sketches, humor, and chaotic storytelling.
Behind the viral stunts was a filmmaker, producer, songwriter, and visual artist who understood the internet era better than almost anyone. He made people laugh, confused them on purpose, and somehow still made millions feel seen.
The bowl cut, the chaos, and the music became part of modern pop culture history.
Rest in peace, Oliver Tree. 🕊️
