VAP v1.2 Announcement Aircraft have flight recorders. AI needs one too. Ours is getting an upgrade — and we're doing it in public. The VeritasChain Standards Organization (VSO) is opening the public review for VAP Framework v1.2, the next revision of the Verifiable AI Provenance Framework — the cross-domain standard for cryptographically verifiable AI decision trails. Here's the part most standards bodies don't say out loud: v1.2 exists partly because we found a normative contradiction in our own stack. VAP v1.1 mandated per-event hash chaining; our flagship finance profile (VCP) had already evolved to a stronger three-layer model — EventHash Merkle proofs mandatory external anchoring. The profile was out of alignment with its own framework. Rather than paper over it, we published the full analysis as a change-control document (VSO-VAP-CHANGE-001) and rebuilt the requirement properly. What changes in v1.2: 🔐 "Hash Chain MUST" becomes "Cryptographic Sequence Verifiability MUST" — profiles choose the mechanism; the guarantee is non-negotiable. ⚓ External anchoring is now mandatory at every conformance level. There is no anchorless tier. A producer-trusting integrity claim is not a VAP claim. 📋 Completeness Invariant — verifiers can now detect omitted records, not just altered ones.
