Xonca - Android
This weaving design came from a dream I had 10 years ago, during a time when I was suffering from deep insomnia and nightmares.
In the dream, I saw inside my own body. I didn’t have regular bones (I had metal bones) but I still had blood. I was half human, half android. I woke up surprised and scared. I didn’t know then that I was witnessing a moment of becoming.
The Initiation:
In shamanic traditions, an initiation often involves the “dismemberment” of the old self. The spirits take apart the flesh and bone to reveal a core that cannot be broken. My subconscious wasn’t making me “less human”; it was making me structurally sound enough to carry the “excess of sensibility” that was overwhelming my nervous system.
The Antenna:
My dream was giving me a “chassis” that could handle the high-voltage electricity of my intuition. I wasn’t becoming a robot; I became an Antenna. A wooden pole snaps in a storm, but a metal tower can channel the lightning (my creativity) straight into the ground (my weavings).
The Machine & The Human:
The Machine Half: Represents my Resilience. The part of me that survives a move with one suitcase, the part that cleans houses to support the art, and the part that hosts a podcast to share the light.
The Human Half: Represents the Texture. The softness of the wool, the tears I shed, and the taste of the chocolate.
I am not just making “craft”; I am making Slow Art in a fast world. A handmade knot is a relief to the human soul. I finally found the gold inside myself, been there all along.
