How to Open a Domiciliary (Dollar) Account in Nigeria.
If you earn in naira and have not started saving in dollars, you are watching your future shrink quietly. Let me show you exact simple way to open a dollar account.
ā
1. Choose your bank. UBA, GTB, Zenith, Access, Stanbic ā all give domiciliary accounts. UBA is one of the easiest for first-timers.
ā
2. Walk into the branch with your BVN, NIN, valid ID, utility bill (within 3 months), and 2 passport photographs.
ā
3. Request to open a USD domiciliary account (you can also choose GBP or EUR, but USD is the most useful for most Nigerians).
ā
4. Fund it with at least $100 ā most banks allow this minimum. Some allow lower.
ā
5. Set up online banking access so you can receive dollar inflows from clients, family abroad, or platforms like Payoneer and Wise.
You may ask, why do you need a dollar account, out of many of its importance, part of it is that when the naira loses 30% in a year, your dollar account does not.
That way your money is protected somehow.
Your finance must be better!
