At #ICANN86, the Africa Space session reviewed FY26 progress on the Africa Regional Implementation Plan and previewed the proposed FY27 plan, alongside an update on Coalition for Digital Africa @CoDigiAf initiative. Engagement from the African community continues to grow more focused, with strong contributions from the Coalition. The session highlighted the value of combining virtual and in-person engagement, growing interest from academia and business, and continued support for DNS operators on security and best practices. #ICANN is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Information Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA) (@MDDTAzerbaijan) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This MoU establishes a foundation for long-term collaboration across key areas of shared interest, including DNS security and stability, Universal Acceptance, and community engagement. Together, ICANN and ICTA will work to promote participation in ICANN newcomer programs, and to support the adoption of Latin Internationalized Domain Names for the Azerbaijani language.
